Governing Body Status
Yoga Scotland has been appointed the governing body for
yoga in Scotland by sportscotland.

Yoga Scotland provides:
 | Professional yoga teacher training courses |
 | Foundation courses both for those who wish to go on to train as
teachers, or those who wish to extend and deepen their personal
practice |
 | A rolling programme of required On-Going Training for registered
teachers |
 | Workshops, seminars and events both for members and the general
public |
 | Yoga Scotland magazine (published three times a year), containing
yoga news and events, articles, interviews and book reviews on all
aspects of yoga |
 | Information on finding yoga classes and qualified teachers, as
well as specialist yoga classes for pregnancy, special needs,
children, older people, prisoners, yoga therapy and one to one
teaching |
Yoga Scotland Aims:
 | To promote the excellent and safe practice of yoga in Scotland
through trained, experienced and qualified teachers |
 | To help and guide each yoga student to gain a greater knowledge
and understanding of all aspects of yoga, through study and practice
and by providing access to education and training |
 | To provide opportunities for the general public to find out more
about yoga |
 | To maintain and improve the standards of yoga teaching and to
organise teacher education |
 | To provide on-going training for existing yoga teachers |
 | To co-operate with and support other organisations (national and
international) with similar objectives
Find out about events and seminars around Scotland, including the Yoga
Scotland Annual Weekend Seminars in St Andrews, and Annual Spring Seminars, which are open to both members and

The Yoga Scotland Foundation Course is for those interested in
learning more about yoga to expand and consolidate their personal
practice. The next course for which you can apply will begin in
September 2008. For a course outline see

The Yoga Scotland Teacher Training Course for those who wish to become
teachers of yoga. This is a two-year course in hatha yoga, yoga
philosophy and anatomy & physiology. Yoga Scotland runs two teacher
training courses - one based in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow - in
alternate years. The next course for which you can apply will begin
in Glasgow in September 2008. For a course outline see

On-Going Training events take place each year throughout Scotland.
These are for registered Yoga Scotland teachers so that they can
continue to increase their knowledge of yoga. Details of the 2007-2008
