Yoga Sutra Study Group

We study, discuss and chant the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. This session we are moving towards the end of Chapter 3. We look at how these teachings are relevant to our lives. The conversation is good and you are welcome to drop in and see if you enjoy it too.

Remedial Yoga Teacher Training Course

Starting October 2012 “Making yoga accessible to all” with Melanie Cook and Peter Angelucci

The course will be six days spread over a nine-month period. The content will include medical and social models of disability. Aetiology and symptomatology of a range of long-term conditions, and side effects of their treatment. Adapting asana for chair and wheelchair use. Pain and energy management techniques. Psychological and emotional effects of long-term conditions. The specific relevance of the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and Patanjali’s Sutras to teaching students with long-term conditions and disabilities..

Remedial Yoga Weekend

18th - 21st May 2012

Residential yoga weekend for those with disabilities and long-term conditions, in beautiful, fully accessible, location in Strathyre (near Callander).

Weekend will run from Friday evening until Monday morning, and will include daily sessions of asana, meditation, pranayama, yoga philosophy and relaxation.

Cost for each weekend: £235 (all inclusive)


5 Day Remedial Yoga Holiday

24th - 30th August 2012

5 day remedial yoga holiday for those with disabilities and long-term conditions, in beautiful, fully accessible, location in Strathyre (near Callander).

Holiday will include daily sessions of – asana, meditation, pranayama, yoga philosophy and relaxation.

Reiki and Indian Head Massage will be available at a small extra cost.  Cost for 5 day residential: £480 (special rates if a carer is brought)

Yoga Workshops in with Paul Harvey


Yoga Practice and Theory over 3 days

All the workshops will be held at The Gillis Centre 100 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh EH9 1BB

Friday: Sound Health - An evening of Nāda Yoga The evening will offer an introduction to Sound, Mantra and Yoga Chanting practice within postural movement and meditational stillness. The focus will be the role of sound and chanting as a tool for health, positive well being and enhanced awareness.


Saturday: Yoga as a View, a Practice and a Tool  A day of Yoga to explore the relationship between the Goals of Yoga, the Principles of Practice and the many Yoga styles around today in the West. We will be working with the Tools in the viniyoga of Yoga utilising the Practice principles of Haṭha Yoga and the View of the Yoga Sūtra in cultivating awareness and supporting our journey towards Yoga's Goal.


Sunday: The Yoga Sūtra of Patañjali - The A-Z of Yoga A day of Yoga study and practice to explore the four chapters of the Yoga Sūtra as - The Map, the Vehicle, the Journey and the Goal - to help guide the Art of Personal Yoga Practice into greater depth, subtlety and relevance to daily life.


Each event is independent though interlinked.


The timings and fees for the workshops are:

Friday 2nd November 2012: 6.30pm - 9.00pm £20

Saturday 3rd November 2012: 10.00am - 4.30pm £48

Sunday 4th November 2012: 9.30am - 4.00pm £48

For all 3 workshops the weekend fee will be £100
