This one-day course with webinar follow-ups aims to give yoga teachers a brief basic foundation of marketing principles before moving on to equipping them with advice, tools and insight into a few more commonly used marketing mediums in the Yoga world. It will provide participants with a basic plan of what and how to use these tools keeping yogic principles at the fore. The course will be followed by 2 remote dial-in webinar sessions to offer a follow up to the actions taken, Q&A and further suggestions.
Note: A basic level of competence in using a computer and general familiarity with social media in at least some aspects is assumed. Wifi will be available on the day so please bring any portable devices you use as this will help with examples and experiential learning during the day.
Fiona Hague has over 20 years’ experience in marketing and communications in the not-for-profit sector and works with community leaders to help their local population access opportunities to increase skills. She ran a £250K project providing training to voluntary organisations within South Lanarkshire. Part of this was forming a network of Learning Champions - to disperse skills (peer-to-peer training) from person-to-person across the community. She now works with small businesses and charities providing marketing and business support. Fiona also shares her expertise in Facebook marketing tools and techniques and setting up Word Press based websites for clients. She is the founder of the 1200+ strong Facebook community, Scottish Business Mums, a support group for all women in business. Fiona also co- created and runs a local Facebook community, Braes Blether, with 7000 members.
Fiona is a regular yoga practitioner herself and is be delighted to work with Lindsey Porter in delivering effective, marketing sessions with the aim for participants to feel empowered to go and implement marketing activity for themselves.
Lindsey Porter completed her 200-hour YTT with Yogrishi Vishvketu in Akhanda Hatha Yoga in Rishikesh India in 2006, is also Curvy Yoga qualified and recently completed the online experiential anatomy training with Judith Hanson Lasater and Special Yoga & Mindfulness for Autism & ADHD. She previously spent over 20 years working in the Financial Services Industry in Senior Project Management and Marketing roles, working in different locations around the world and across the UK for various Retail Banks. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and the Institute of Sales Promotion Diploma.
Lindsey’s passion for sharing the benefits yoga can bring to all minds and bodies has led her to explore and utilise a number of marketing channels to help spread these messages. These include, co-founding and producing an international podcast called Voices of Yoga (voicesofyoga.com) listened to in over 70 countries and having yoga and wellbeing-based articles published in the Huffington Post, OM Yoga, YOGA and the Yoga Scotland magazine. She has also had interviews and podcasts played on several UK radio stations She recently published her debut book, “Whirlpools, yoga and the balance of life – travel tales for the adventurous spirit” and has been awarded a “WOMAN OF INSPIRATION AWARD” 2019 by the Association of Scottish Business Women.
