60 minute private Yoga Therapy sessions available Wednesdays between 10am and 2pm. Yoga Therapy aims to promote the best possible health and wellbeing of the person as a whole. Yoga Therapy looks at people as individuals, taking into account any health problems they may be experiencing and what their goals are, and works with them to create a yoga practice specifically for their needs. No previous experience of yoga is necessary.
Using a gentle, therapeutic orientation to yoga that is supportive of those with limited mobility or living with chronic pain and illness, the emphasis of the practice may be towards the body, the mind, the emotions or a combination of all of these.
Yoga Therapy can help to establish more functional breathing and movement patterns and enhance positive strategies for coping and improving quality of life.
Yoga Therapists do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, but yoga therapy may help to improve your quality of life if you are living with chronic health conditions. It can also help in dealing with addiction, pre/post treatment recovery and coping with rehabilitation from surgery and injury.
The classes are not ‘one size fits all’; Yoga Therapy sessions give individuals the tools and the skills that can help them to improve their own quality of life. During a therapy session I adapt the practices of yoga such as exercise, relaxation and meditation to the specific needs and goals of the client, helping them develop a personalised home practice to suit their particular health/mobility issues.
